OUR PEOPLE

  • Cliff Roberson

    CLIFF ROBERSON

Without Cliff’s drive, enthusiasm and extremely passionate work ethic, Roberson Wine would not be where it is today (or, indeed, anywhere at all). Cliff has worked in the wine trade for more years than he cares to remember, founding Roberson Wine in 1991 and his other main business, Buckingham Vintners, in 1974. He remains one of the true characters of the industry.

  • Joe Gilmour

    JOE GILMOUR

After briefly entertaining the notion of making money with a degree in economics, our shop manager Joe decided to follow his heart and join Roberson upon leaving university. He enjoys snuggling up to an old Rhône in the Winter for warmth. Joe would like to make it clear that this photo bears little relation to what he looks like in real life.

Desert Island Drink: Any old Hermitage, he’s not picky.

  • Mark Andrew

    MARK ANDREW

Vinophile, Francophile and Burgundophile, Mark was wandering down the corporate path before a Damascus moment in Gevrey-Chambertin delivered him to Roberson’s door. In addition to buying responsibilities for Burgundy and the Languedoc, he runs the Roberson Wine School and acclaimed fine wine tasting programme.

Desert Island Drink: Romanée St-Vivant, by Sylvain Cathiard

  • Paul Fisher

    PAUL FISHER

Skier, film-maker, fountain of local knowledge, and general renaissance man Paul Fisher has an anecdote ready for every eventuality and enjoys looking after many of our corporate accounts.

Desert Island Drink: 1988 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill (a Jeroboam, of course)

  • Ben Greene

    BEN GREENE

After a while spent away from the wine trade exploring the world, Ben brought his passion for fine wine and things mechanical to Roberson to head up the online side of the business.

Desert Island Drink: A pint of Harvey’s

  • Gavin Monery

    GAVIN MONERY

Resident Australian Gavin worked for many years at some of the top wineries in Western Australia including Cullen, Moss Wood and Cape Mentelle, before arriving at Roberson to look after our private clients.

Desert Island Drink: 1996 La Tâche

  • Laurence Haywood

    LAURENCE HAYWOOD

As Director of Sales, Laurence looks after many of the top restaurants in London, sourcing back-vintages of Bordeaux and Burgundy for clients including Gordon Ramsay, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and Sketch. Outside of work, Laurence fosters an unhealthy and wholly unaffordable interest in vintage cars.

Desert Island Drink: 1961 Château Latour

  • Matteo Lupi

    MATTEO LUPI

Matteo Lupi joined Roberson over two years ago after a highly successful time at Mortons, where as head Sommelier he managed one of the most stellar wine lists in London. To this day he has drunk just about more iconic wines then the rest of Roberson put together. Before getting into wine, Matteo was a successful pugilist in Italy, so watch out if your account is overdue.

Desert Island Drink: 1990 Gaja Sori Tildin

  • Adam Green

    ADAM GREEN

Adam Green comes from a background of selling fine wine to a portfolio of private clients in Mayfair and joined Roberson in late 2008 to look after fine wine business development. Vinous-wise, Adam has a passion for the wines of Spain and can often be seen lurking in the shadows, guiltily fondling a bottle of single-vineyard wine from the likes of Alvaro Palacios, Artadi and Benjamin Romeo. Outside of work, he enjoys the better things in life, eating out, the theatre and charting the rising fortunes of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

    Desert Island Drink: 1995 Pingus

  • Bob Curtis

    BOB CURTIS

Bob recently joined Roberson as Commercial Director, bringing with him two decades of experience in the wine trade, in retail, wholesale, duty free and two dot coms. He enjoys wines from all over the world, ranging from Alsace Riesling to Château Musar, but his real passion is top red Bordeaux.
