Founded in 1850 by Joao Pereira d'Oliveira, the company remains solidly family based, and after a century and half continues to advance not only as a family business in a corporate world, but as a dynamic family business despite the perils of Portugal's inheritance laws. This has enabled the company to maintain a strong administrative nucleous and singularity of purpose, as opposed to the fragmentation of multiple shareholding.
Within the diminutive world of Madeiran producers, Pereira d'Oliveira continues to be one of the smallest and most discreet, perennially away from the spotlight of the media, proud of the wines it continues to present to the world.
