TASTING NOTES
'This is perfect for this time of year: a big juicy Shiraz that is fresh and lively, with a beautiful, sweet black cherry finish. Predominantly Shiraz but a proportion of Mourvèdre gives this wine a bit of tannic structure that adds freshness to the palate. What a wine! (And its also natural!).'
Jack Green
Wine Advisor
This one is mostly Shiraz, topped up with a splash of Mourvèdre. The wine spends twelve months in large French casks before being trickled off into bottle. The grapes are hand picked from the great Western Barossa vineyards.
PRODUCER NOTES
John met Tom Shobbrook in 2001 while they were both working for Sean O’Callaghan in Chianti. The following six years saw them taste their way around much of Europe, visiting some of the continent’s most exciting wine producers. They agreed that, when the time came, Tom would make wine and John would sell it. Simple. On Tom’s return to Australia in 2007, he had a clear idea of the wine he would produce. Biodynamic farming was to be key to the vineyard, together with a belief that the work of the winery should never be over-complicated.
The resulting wines speak for themselves - they are unsulphured, unfined and unfiltered and have won great acclaim both at home in Australia (winning Max Allen’s Gold Medal for Up-and-Coming Producer and Gourmet Traveller’s Wine Australia Medal for 2010), and internationally, from Alice Feiring in New York to Jancis Robinson and Jamie Goode in London.
