TASTING NOTES

Almost all white Burgundy is made from Chardonnay, but a small proportion comes from Aligoté, a grape lighter in body and with a fresher, crisper character than Chardonnay. When made by a quality producer like Buisson-Charles, it is a superb wine in its own right.

PRODUCER NOTES

This tiny 5.5 hectare domaine is the essence of small production Burgundy wine.
Having been run for many years by Michael Buisson, the wines are now being made by his son-in-law Patrick Essa (nephew of Francois Jobard), but the emphasis has very much remained on elegance, purity and potential for ageing.
Vinification follows very traditional methods, with slow vertical pressing, barrel fermentation, long lees contact (although no batonnage) and late bottling practiced in order to infuse the wines with the characteristics of their terroirs.
These are genuinely some of the most exciting white Burgundies out there at the moment, with the nature of the vintage allowing for enjoyable early drinking and the sheer quality and approach to production promising years of development if cellared.
