Taylor, Fladgate & Yeatman, to give it its full name, was founded in 1692 and is still owned by descendents of the original Yeatmans. It arguably produces the greatest of all vintage ports, with an extraordinary depth of flavour and a capacity for long ageing that is almost unrivalled.

Its characteristic note of violets comes from the Quinta de Vargellas, which sold unblended in years when a vintage port is not made and represents great value.

For tawnies, Taylor is no less impressive and even the LBV and the other lesser wines possess an inimitable class. One of the surest things in Port.
