CôTES-DU-RHôNE VILLAGES 'TRADITION' 2007, DOMAINE MOURCHON
TASTING NOTES
"Scotsman Walter McKinlay, who makes wine near Séguret, was one of the grenache symposium's organisers. His passion for the grape shines through in this fine Côtes-du-Rhône (65 per cent grenache, the balance syrah and carignan), brimming with warm, sweet fruit and supple tannins. His superb Grande Réserve 2007, also 65 per cent grenache, is yet bigger and richer.
Another fantastic effort from Domaine Mourchon, this Côtes-du-Rhône Villages is full-bodied, deliciously juicy, with excellent balance and and a lovely smooth mouthfeel." - Andrew Neather (Evening Standard).
PRODUCER NOTES
The creation of Englishman Walter Mcinley, Domaine de Mourchon goes from strength to strength with a great range of powerful, dense, complex wines made from mostly Grenache and Syrah. The wines are made at two levels, Cotes du Rhone Village Seguret, a tank aged offering, and Grande Reserve, barrique aged. The wines age well and offer great value.
