MONTY'S FRENCH RED 2008, MONTY WALDIN

TASTING NOTES

The 2008 Monty's French Red is the second vintage from Monty Waldin, of Château Monty fame, and once again Roberson are delighted to be the exclusive London stockists. The wine is strictly organic, of course, and largely Carignan, with 5% Syrah and a touch each of Grenache and Maccabeu. Easy-drinking but with plenty of southern-French character, it matters not whether you believe Monty that this is the result of timing the production according to 'various lunar cycles', this is delicious, straightforward, juicy red for everyday drinking.

PRODUCER NOTES

Monty Waldin is an ex-Roberson employee who last year left the UK behind for the south of France, where he made a TV programme, Château Monty, about the trials and tribulations of making a strictly organic wine, Monty's French Red. If you saw the final episode you might remember Monty coming back here to get Cliff's seal of approval before the launch.
