PRODUCER NOTES
Castello di Brolio Barone Ricasoli has been owned by the Ricasoli family since 1141 and features prominently in the history of Tuscan wine as the location where one of the Ricasolis invented the modern blend of Chianti in the 1850s. Its reputation suffered in the 70s when Seagram took over control, but Francesco Ricasoli triumphantly took it back, pouring thousands of inferior bottles down the sink and reviving the estate’s fortune. Today Ricasoli produces some of the best Chianti and its associated derivatives, including a fabulous Vin Santo.
