PRODUCER NOTES
Pommard is known for producing some of the sturdiest and most structured examples of Pinot Noir in Burgundy, while Volnay is famed for its elegant wines of poise and subtlety.
Domaine Joseph Voillot has cellars and vines in both villages (although their official address is in Volnay), and Joseph’s son in law Jean-Pierre is the very able winemaker-in-chief who does an excellent job of communicating structure and elegance in all of his wines.
This is a domaine that is ‘one to watch’, and the Voillot 2005 confirmed their status as one of the best up and coming producers in the Côte-de-Beaune.
