WINES FROM ALVARO PALACIOS

A leading player in the ‘New Spain’ movement of the last ten years. Along with such luminaries as Pingus’ Peter Sisseck, Alvaro has crafted wines that look outside Spain for inspiration, drawing on old vineyard sites and perfectionist winemaking. There are three wines produced here from the hot arid climate of Priorat, where old, gnarled Grenache produces wines with superb intensity, a cross between Bordeaux, Chateauneuf-de-Pape and Claret. At the top is his L’Ermita, a wine as great as it is hard to find, Finca Dofi, and Les Terraces, a superb example of the style of wines Alvaro is famous for.
