TASTING NOTES
Torbreck are one of the most exciting producers in the Barossa Valley, making small quantities of various differenct combinations of Shiraz and Viognier as well as this wine, The Steading, which blends Grenache and Mourvèdre, both grapes familiar from Southern Rhône wines such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Here they produce a rich, powerful and smooth wine, delicious for drinking now but equally capable of improving over time.
PRODUCER NOTES
Since 1995, David Powell has been turning out some of the most inspiring wines in the Barossa Valley. What is so interesting is his ability to fuse some of the character of Northern Rhone wines, the secondary, the earthy and leathery notes into the plush intensity of his old-vine Shiraz. His two icon wines, Run Rig and the Factor, both named after old Scottish forestry terms, are unique masterpieces, with the other wines, Steading and Woodcutters not too far behind.
