SYRAH 2006, BODEGAS FINCA LUZON

TASTING NOTES

The Syrah grapes for this wine come from the Castillo de Madaz vineyard. The wine is aged for four months in a mixture of American and French oak, so that the powerful dark fruit characteristics of the must are preserved and a smooth texture is acheived. The result is a full-bodied, well-balanced wine.

PRODUCER NOTES

Bodegas Luzon was originally founded in 1916 but it was only in the 1990's when it came under new ownership that the wines were truly worth the effort. The wines here are mostly made from local varieties, and Monastrell is favoured as it produces deep coloured wines that stand up well to the toasty American and French barrels the wine is matured in. These wines sum up well everything that is exciting about the 'New Spain' and the value that can be found there.
