TASTING NOTES
Made from the same blend as ‘La Dame’ and yields of just 30 hl/ha, the Mas Des Dames Rosé is left on the fine lees and aged in barrel for a couple of months. The result is a wine of depth and complexity, with wonderfully fresh, vibrant red fruit and a delicate finish of spice and garrigue herbs.
PRODUCER NOTES
This beautiful domaine (located just to the north of Béziers) is at the forefront of the surge in quality that has been seen in the Languedoc over recent years. Low yields, hand picking and organic viticulture are the order of the day here and the results are rich, silky smooth wines with fantastic “goût de terroir”.
Owner and wine maker Lidewij worked in advertising back in her native Holland, before deciding to move to France and pursue her dream of being a wine maker. After graduating from the viticultural college in Montpellier she has spent the last seven years honing her craft and is now considered to be one of the region’s most exciting vignerons. Mas des Dames has recently received critical acclaim from the Wine Spectator and was named as the ‘#1 Up and coming domaine’ in Tom Stevenson’s Wine Report (2009).
