"The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc offers intense notes of gooseberries, passion fruit, grapefruit zest and grass with a hint of fresh herbs. Crisp, dry and medium bodied with a good concentration of grapefruit and herb flavors, it gives a long tropical fruit laced finish. Delicious now, it should remain fresh through 2013. Cloudy Bay have done it again with this latest vintage, producing the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc by which all others will be judged. Fantastic intensity, great freshness and overflowing with green fruit flavour.
PRODUCER NOTES
Founded in 1985 Cloudy Bay became an iconic producer through its pungent, nettle-sharp Sauvignon Blanc. Since then, quality has been sky-high as it has had to be with the influx of high-quality competitors. Winemaker Kevin Judd has introduced a barrel-fermented Sauvignon ‘Te Koko’ as well as further varietals to enhance the diversity of the offerings but it is still the Sauvignon Blanc that sells out within a few weeks of the vintage.
