TASTING NOTES
P.F. stands for 'Pie Franco', meaning that the vines are ungrafted, a rarity since the Phylloxera pest ravaged the vineyards of the world in the late 19th century. The grape variety is Bobal and the vines are 60-95 years old. They give very low yields of concentrated fruit, and the wine made from them is earthy, powerful and fascinating. If you're looking for a truly different wine experience, this is an excellent choice.
PRODUCER NOTES
Juan Antonio Ponce began his winery in 2005, at the age of 23. He works biodynamically in the vineyard, and in the winery takes a natural approach, using low levels of sulfur dioxide. He makes 3500 cases a year in a rented facility, with virtually no mechanization.
The wines are typically bottled after 7 months in barrel, with no filtration or fining.
