TRENTON ESTATE VINEYARD SYRAH 2004, JOSEPH SWAN VINEYARDS

PRODUCER NOTES

Joseph Swan made a few barrels of wine in the cellar of the house that he had just purchased in Sonoma in 1968, and then bonded this cellar the following year as a commercial winery. He replanted the vineyard and orchard the following year with what is now known as the Swan clone of Pinot Noir, some Chardonnay and a bit of Cabernet. The current winery was built in 1974. In 1987 winemaking son-in-law Rod Berglund joined Joe to help with the harvest, and Ron later on took over the running of the estate. Previously, Rod had been founding partner and winemaker at La Crema. Joseph passed away in 1989, but his legacy lives on.
