RIESLING 'LOISERBERG' 2007, JURTSCHITSCH SONNHOF

TASTING NOTES

Austrian Riesling has traditionally been drier and fuller than its German counterpart, and this excellent wine continues that tradition. With an enticing, ripe apple fruit character, fine structure and a refreshing dry finish this is a very classy wine indeed.

PRODUCER NOTES

The roots of the estate probably go back to the era of the Babenberg dukes. Parts of the cellar originate in the 14th century and the family coat of arms that was chiselled into the stone above the archway of the ancient Sonnhof estate displays two crossed gothic keys. Ancestors of the Jurtschitsch family uncovered the coat of arms in the loess soils of their vineyards long ago.
As early as the 1930’s the Sonnhof estate was renowned for its pioneering efforts in viticulture and in winemaking – efforts that drew well-deserved praise in the following decades, especially from the 1960’s on. At that time the estate of Josef Jurtschitsch was the most highly awarded winery in Langenlois.
Jurtschitsch Sonnhof has won numerous national and international top awards.
