TASTING NOTES
Another superb wine from the Loire valley proving that you don't have to pay big money for a Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé to get all the complexity and character of exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. Dry, fresh and fruity, this is great any time.
PRODUCER NOTES
This beautiful domaine, which dates back to 1848, is situated in the heart of Chinon and is now certified organic, a process that Marc Plouzeau has been working towards over the past decade. Since Marc took over Château de la Bonnelière in 1988 he has pursued a ‘minimal interventionist’ approach to viticulture and winemaking, and the results are natural red and white wines that exude a sense of place.
The Château de la Bonnelière sits on top of a hill and the surrounding 15 hectares of vines are used to make serious, structured Chinon that ages beautifully but has a ripe core of dark berry fruit that makes it deliciously accessible early in its life. In addition there is a vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from the Touraine appellation, where the chalky and flinty soils give the wine a real mineral freshness.
