Date: 7pm, Thursday 22nd March 2012
Price: £40.00

With the constant press attention given to Bordeaux and Burgundy, France’s third major fine wine region doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. It is no understatement to say that some of France’s finest terroir and finest wines are to be found in the Rhône Valley, with the sheer variety and difference between the north and the south providing for enough different styles to keep even the most curious palates occupied.

This tasting will take a vinous tour through both parts of the region, looking at the white and red wines of the major appellations and, as always, there will be benchmark examples to taste from the top producers, including:

2009 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc; Marc Sorrel
2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc; Château Beaucastel
2008 Condrieu ‘Chery’; André Perret
2007 Côte-du-Rhône Villages Seguret ‘Grande Reserve’; Domaine Mourchon
2007 Gigondas; Domaine les Goubert
2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape; Pierre Usseglio
2009 Crozes-Hermitage; Domaine Aléofane (Natacha Chave)
2007 Cornas ‘Chaillot’; Thierry Allemand
2005 Côte-Rotie Brune et Blonde; Guigal
1996 Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’; Jaboulet
