We had a great response to our grower Champagne tasting last year and many of you were particularly interested in a blind tasting that pitted the best examples against the grande marques that we all know and (some of us) love. One of the things that independent merchants like us love to tell customers is that growers give you much more complexity for your money. Now we are going to put that money where our mouth is.

The format is 10 wines (5 growers, 5 brands), all priced around £40, tasted blind and rated individually and collectively by the group. We will then unveil the findings and see who comes out on top.

The teams will be:
Growers – Egly-Ouriet, Bereche, Dosnon & Lepage, Chartogne-Taillet and Agrapart
Marques – Moet & Chandon, Veuve Cliquot, Laurent Perrier, Taittinger and Bollinger
