SASSICAIA BACK TO 1967 WITH WINEMAKER SEBASTIANO ROSA
Please note this event has already happened
Date: 7pm, Tuesday 16th February 2010
Price: £150.00
Tenuta San Guido is Italy’s ‘first growth’ (the vines originally came from Lafite!) and the wine that has made this estate a household name around the world is Sassicaia.
It is an honour and a pleasure to welcome the winemaker (and heir to the San Guido throne) Sebastiano Rosa to Roberson to talk us through a vertical tasting of this spectacular wine.
As if that wasn’t enough, we have managed to obtain a single bottle of Sassicaia 1967, which we will finish the tasting with. The first ever commercial release of Sassicaia was in ‘69, so this represents a genuine once in a lifetime opportunity to taste a wine that was intended only for family and friends over 40 years ago.
We will begin the event with a look at Tenuta San Guido’s other wines, ‘Le Difese’ and two vintages of ‘Guidalberto’, before tasting 7 vintages of Sassicaia (final line-up TBC) with the ‘67 to finish.
Due to only having a single bottle of the impossibly rare 1967, places for this tasting are strictly limited. Do not miss the opportunity to meet Sebastiano and taste a wine that even he may never see again!
