PICHON VS PICHON: THE BARON AND THE COMTESSE
Please note this event has already happened
Date: 7pm, Thursday 23rd September 2010
Price: £130.00
Two of Pauillac's heavyweights and both fully signed up members of the 'Super Seconds', Pichons Baron and Lalande were originally part of the same estate. Following the revolution and introduction of the Napoleonic code, the estate was split four ways - the son Raoul took his share and renamed it Pichon-Longueville (known affectionately as Pichon-Baron), while his three sisters combined their shares and formed Pichon-Lalande.
Today, it is big business that owns the two Pichons (AXA and Louis Roederer respectively) and the quality of wines has never been better. Now is a great time to look at how the best vintages of the past 30 years have developed at both properties, so to that end we will be tasting:
2000, 1996, 1990, 1986 and 1982
The wines will be served blind in flights of two for each vintage - see if you can spot the Parker 100 pointer!
