St Emilion is still reeling from the suspension of its revised (2006) classification, which resulted in the 1996 status-quo being restored while the authorities fight it out in the courts with the aggrieved parties. While all this goes on, we are taking the opportunity to look at the estates in the second tier of the classification in order to get to grips with the true character of this world famous appellation.
