A Trip to Burgundy

Published by Cliff Roberson on 16/11/2015

Cliff (me) went on a day trip to Beaune with Ian, who is 6 foot 4. The purpose of this adventure was to see our old mate Romaric of Chavy-Chouet, a brilliant producer of Puligny-Montrachet, and to taste the 2014/15 vintages with the buyers of Marks and Spencer. As part of the gig we had dinner at a poncey and anachronistic Burgundian restaurant; we had to stop talking for umpteen culinary explanations, even though we had made the order and knew very well what it was we were eating and drinking. The actual wine tasting, which took no more than an hour, involved about 15 wines and was very successful. You will, no doubt, be seeing the outcome of our trip on M&S shelves sometime in the future.
