The 2019 Baker St is a slight twist to our core wine in the London Cru range. The grapes for this wine came from two vineyards in West Sussex, were hand-picked and gently pressed. They were then aged partially in old oak barrels from Chavy Chouet in Meursault, which helped delicately develop the wine during ageing.

Learn more“This elegant, gastronomic wine shows what can be achieved with English Bacchus in the right hands. Australian winemaker Alex Hurley uses grapes from West Sussex and produces this limited-quantity label (3,000 bottles) at the boutique London Cru winery - the capital's first urban winery. Fresh and appealing Sauvignon-like nose, with lime, gooseberry, herbal and grassy notes. Judicious oak use (23% of the wine spends seven months in used premier cru Burgundy barrels) adds a delightful creaminess to the palate, well balanced by fresh acidity, plus notes of citrus interwoven with passionfruit, fresh pineapple and subtle elderflower. Ends with a crisp grapefruit bite.”
“Here there is a haunting perfume of elderflower and cricket pitch cuttings which glides above the citrus pith core. It is lively, perky and lifted with a lust for life which so many pretenders to the Bacchus throne fail to engender. It is not a wine which needs time to settle and evolve like the raw, stinging nettle-imbued Bacchi of the past. It is ready to go and it ought to be your go-to apero this summer.”
“The Baker Street Bacchus has a super-punchy palate, bursting up front with zesty lime and pink grapefruit energy. I really enjoyed the textural qualities and intensity of this wine which feels perfectly placed as a showcase Bacchus”
