“Creamy and on the rich side, spreading across the palate, the depth of flavour making the acidity seem relatively soft (for champagne), though in a second glass, much cooler, the wine seemed to tighten up and be much fresher. Light note of yeast and vanilla. Changes interestingly in the glass.”
“The festive season is synonymous with Champagne, and if I had to choose just one of them it would be this. The packaging is a classy black and gold. Disgorgement is quite recent so the wine is beautifully mature. Notes of dried figs, honey and biscuit; round and powerful; structured and elegant; long and lingering finish with plenty of nutty and buttery flavours. The perfect companion to wintery dishes and Christmas pudding - quite simply, a truly gastronomic Champagne.”
“Wonderfully creamy citrus with the richness of the 2004 but seems fresher and more coiled. It went extremely well with a scallops and smoked onion starter. There's a very slight hint of honey, possibly even ginger as it opens up, tastes dry and very fresh, with extremely fine mousse. Both complex and delicious. ”
“Artéis is a new name in champagne, applied to specially selected parcels of mature artisan champagnes disgorged relatively recently. This one spent 11 years on the lees, was made in the most glamorous vintage of the past decade and is a (relative) bargain at £34 from Roberson Wine.”
“The wine is exciting in its combination of extremely brisk freshness and its persistence. I didn’t find enormous depth or richness but it has a very attractive, well-balanced neat nose and length on the palate. The Chardonnay component seems the dominant one at the moment.”
