Mayacamas's Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely stunning example of great Californian Cabernet. This is a worthy rival to any claret. All the fruit from Mayacamas estate are certified organic.

“As the evenings start drawing in and the chill returns to the air, getting home to enjoy a complex, warming red is a real joy. Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 fits the bill this Winter. A wine made high up on the breathtaking Mount Veeder in Napa Valley; it is an intensely flavoured wine with layers of blackcurrants, game, licorice and spice with a silky smooth finessed palate that is not too full bodied or sweet. This is Californian Cabernet at its very best. Ethereal, balanced and utterly delicious. ”
“Fragrant nose of blackcurrant, raspberry and sweet spices. The palate is rather lean and delicately vegetal and has a good length. Drinking Window 2021 - 2028”
“Blackcurrant syrup, lovely leafy notes, smooth texture with a very savoury bite to finish. The austerity is very French, but the gloss and power is all-American. ”
“Perhaps a tiny bit of oak flavour and picked a little later than the 2014. Healthy crimson. Shaded rim. Sweet, light aroma. Light and fresh on the nose. Nicely subtle and almost Cabernet Franc-like on the palate. Dry finish with just a little bit of heat. Plus a hint of bitterness. Very youthful.”
“Deep garnet with a shaded rim. This seems a much more complete wine than the earlier Cabernet vintages. Pleasing to drink even at this early stage and without excessive acidity. No more than mid weight and with a slight suggestion of bitterness on the end but a creditable mountain red. Very fresh. The opposite of a fruit bomb!”
