The most opulent of the First Growths, Mouton-Rothschild is a gorgeous, silky, full-bodied wine that can live in splendour for decades.
Famously the only Château ever to have had its 1855 classification revised, Mouton was promoted from Second Growth to First in 1973. The reality is that it has always been regarded as the equal of the other First Growths and is the most opulent and exotic, with a full-bodied, voluptuous style. Its label has changed each year since 1945, designed by a different artist each time, but the wine remains consistently fabulous and long-lived.
