“From more than 50-year-old vines rooted on the slate and loess soils of the Von den Luessen single vineyard in Poysdorf, the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Reserve Alte Reben opens with a very clear and subtle but also rich and intense nose of ripe white stone fruits intertwined with spicy and flinty aromas from the schist terroir. Picked late at the end of October and fermented in large and small, partly new oak vats, this is a full-bodied, dense, lush, piquant and well-concentrated yet elegant Grüner Veltliner with remarkable finesse and silky texture. The 2015 is stimulatingly transparent, precise and salty, structured by its delicate acidity as well as fine tannins. The highly refined finish is spicy, well structured and long. The Alte Reben is another highlight of the 2015 portfolio of the Ebner-Ebenauer couple and it is a question of personal taste whether you prefer the refined and almost crystalline Alte Reben or the Sauberg. If you love Riesling, opt for the Alte Reben. If you love Austrian wine, check out both of them.”
“Arrestingly intense wine from 60-year-old vines of Austria's signature grape variety, picked very ripe and fermented to dryness”
