“From 66-year-old vines on gravelly soils in the Poysdorfer Steinbergen vineyard, the citrus colored 2015 Riesling Alte Reben opens with clear and concentrated lemon/grapefruit and white-fleshed stone fruit aromas that are intermixed with spicy and some stony notes. Fresh, crunchy, lovely, round and fruit intense on the palate, this is a medium-bodied Riesling with tropical flavors and a pleasant finish with grapefruit flavors. The 2015 was picked in the middle of October and includes 20% botrytis-affected fruit. The wine did not ferment to full dryness but up to 13.1% alcohol plus 9.6 grams of residual sugar. It is well balanced, still yoking but enjoyable.”
