From the single vineyard, 'Hermanschachern.' Full-bodied, with great acidity, this excellently shows site definition.

“Smooth and creamy, this is a rounded wine that’s soft in texture. A good bite of lemon juice acidity adds balance and attractive fruitiness. Finishes very clean and fragrant.”
“This bottling from mature vines in south-facing fossiliferous limestone overlaid with loess benefits from skin contact as well as from entirely spontaneous fermentation, characteristics it shares with bottlings in the upper price range of the Ebner-Ebenauer Grüner Veltliner portfolio. Fresh lime, green bean and apple inform a glossy, glycerol-rich palate yet one displaying Riesling-like brightness. Thyme, stone, salt, iodine and shellfish reduction lend mouthwatering savor and fascination to an energetically penetrating, refreshing finish. ”
“Marion Ebner runs this 10ha estate with her husband Manfred Ebenauer. This full-bodied single-vineyard wine is crisp and fresh with concentrated, fleshy ripe apple and stone fruit and a rich, round texture, ending with a nice saline finish.”
“From loess soils with a substantial share of shell limestone in Poysdorf, the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Hermanschachern opens with a deep, ripe and concentrated but nicely discreet and spicy bouquet of ripe stone fruits. Picked on October 15 and fermented and aged in stainless steel for six months before bottling in May, this is a full-bodied, round and elegant Grüner Veltliner with remarkably refined and concentrated fruit whose stone fruit and grapefruit flavors as well as salinity and fine tannin grip reminds of Riesling. This is gorgeous Grüner Veltliner from the Weinviertel that can age for a decade but tasted terrific already. The salinity on the finish and the spicy grip on the aftertaste are highly stimulating.”
