“After Chavy Chouet's Bourgogne Blanc, 'Les Femelottes' picked a couple of weeks ago as a staff recommendation, I thought I’d continue the love for Chavy Chouet and pick his Premier Cru 'Les Narvaux' - it’s a great example of white Burgundy, well balanced and packed full of delicious stone fruits.”
“This has a very appealing, lush nose and palate with a generous creamy texture, roasted peach fruit with a touch of spice and bright acidity, but it falls away a little at the end.' ”
“Gorgeous, gilded, sweet, toasty, hazelnut biscuit of a meursault, from a good, not great, white vintage and only a single plot, not a premier cru, but frankly it tastes so darned delicious, it could easily pass for one. Rich, creamy, meursault is everyone’s idea of a great white burgundy and of late Domaine Chavy-Chouet have bowled me over with the dazzling quality of their wines, especially this one. With masses of sublime, silky fruit, stylishly integrated with lots of fine-grained, nutty, new oak, this magnificent meursault, from the large Narvaux vineyard, abutting two premiers crus, makes elegant drinking now but even so I would put it away for three more years, for even richer flavours to come to the fore.”
“The 2017 Meursault Les Narvaux is another highlight of this year's collection, wafting from the glass with aromas of green pear, crisp peach, hazelnut and iodine. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with nice volume and a sense of completeness while remaining taut and stony at the core.”
