Westwell are an exciting new English wine producer in Kent, whose 'Pelegrim' NV sparkling is currently making big waves in the world of English wine. It recently stood out when blind tasted against top Champagne's, and both left Roberson staff and Jancis Roberson MW thinking it was a Champagne too. Made identically to Champagne on chalky soils, this elegant, complex wine is an absolute must-drink this Christmas.
“Tasted blind in a comparison of champagne and English sparkling wine. 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier, 30% Chardonnay. 2016 vintage base. Very fine, persistent mousse. Quite a sophisticated, refined nose. Youthful but not austere. Very lively. A young champagne? Good concentration and balance. Confident wine.”
