“Syrah from Roussillon, 2013 vintage. Perfumed, violet, great clarity, really dry and delicate, with just enough tannin. Juicy and fragrant and really subtly done – delicate, featherweight tannins and clean, fine fruit.”
“From a spot 5 km from the ocean in the Roussillon: a cool site in a warm region. 12.5% alcohol. Fine, fresh black cherry fruit with lovely purity, and a bit of raspberry freshness. Direct and pure with subtle green notes. Nicely textured.”
“The ’13 has a perfume that leaps out of the glass and up to say hello, like a friendly cocker spaniel, if cocker spaniels actually smelt nice. This is happy wine, vivid and floral, and with a sharp cherry bite on the finish there is something of a bright and breezy silky dolcetto about it. Also oak-matured, 10 per cent of it in new oak, the rest older. Lovely stuff.”
