Winery History Mount Eden Vineyards is, without question, one of California’s most important and historic winemaking estates. Originally planted by legendary (not to mention maverick) winemaker Martin Ray back in the 1940s, Mount Eden has been witness to its fair share of joy, disaster and intrigue over the years.
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is fabulous. A rush of floral and spice notes leads into a core of racy purplish fruit. Lavender, sage, mint and a whole range of savory Cabernet aromatics play off the natural richness of the year so well. The 2017 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Eden plus non-estate vineyards in Los Gatos and Saratoga, along with Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Mount Eden. That blend works so well. I loved it for its power and density. More importantly, the 2017 is a huge overachiever and a screaming value." Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, 94 pts
This excellent Chardonnay is considered one of California’s longest-lived white wines ... but you may find it hard to resist cracking it open at the first opportunity.

"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is going to need a number of years to come around. The only question is how many. In 2017, the Mount Eden Cabernet is shockingly opulent. Inky black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, leather and incense are all dialed up in this super-sized Cabernet. Even so, there is plenty of structure lurking beneath. I can't wait to see how this ages." Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, 97 pts
