Dessert Wine

Dessert Wine is, as the name suggests, a sweet wine that is usually served with the dessert course of a meal (although it often pairs very well with cheese too). It can be made in a variety of styles, from naturally sweet to fortified, and is produced all over the world. Some famous examples of dessert wine include Sauternes, Tokaji, Ice Wine, Noble Harvest Riesling and Rutherglen Muscat. The high level of sugar in these wines also gives them the ability to age for long periods of time. There are even examples of Sauternes over 100 years old that are still delicious. As a result, certain styles of sweet wine are highly prized and collectable.
