American or French Pinot Noir?

American vs French Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is undoubtedly world famous. It is, perhaps more than any other grape, hyper-responsive to its surroundings. Usually grown in moderate to cool climates, Pinot Noir produces wines lighter in colour with low to medium tannin. From the old world to the new Pinot expresses the region it has been grown in. In Burgundy, distinctive soil types and precise climatic influences lead to appellation specific Pinot of incredible diversity.

New world Pinot Noir is more than capable of rivalling the old. Many of the best American Pinot Noir can be found in California specifically, Sonoma and Santa Barbara. These wines tend to be full-bodied with red fruit flavours such as red cherry and strawberries. While Oregon in smaller quantities produces some of the best Pinot in the world.

We have coupled the best from both sides of the Atlantic in to one Collection - a Franco-American Pinot bonanza. Pick yourself a mixed case and share your thoughts with us on our Instagram page – We always love to hear from you!
