Like the Chardonnay, this vintage was sourced entirely from the Donnachadh estate, although that may not be the case in the future. It has a pale ruby color and very pure, fragrant scents of cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, bergamot, tea leaves and herbs. The medium-bodied palate is finely chalky and wonderfully fresh, boasting concentrated red berry flavors, fine citrusy accents and a long, ethereal finish. This really stands out for its detail and expression—it's as if the volume was turned up yet the definition preserved."

Found on Mt. Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, the Peter Martin Ray vineyard dates back to the late 1800s and was one of the first sites in California to be planted with Pinot Noir. Replanted in 1979, the old dry-farmed vines cling to the rocky landscape at over 420m elevation. The depleted, exposed shale soils are notoriously nutrient poor and the vines work hard to generate low yields of fruit with incredible concentration and depth.
