Meeresboden, meaning ‘Ocean Soil’ is a balanced wine made from old vines. A bright and racy wine that will age in to a silkier honeyed one.
Central Coast Chardonnay replaces Sandhi's Santa Barbara County label, sourcing additional fruit from vineyards outside of the AVA. This extra flexibility has given Sashi the vineyard variation to create a very complex wine that punches well above the broad label term 'Central Coast'. Vibrant acidity works in harmony with nutty aromas and dried flowers.
Bergström Old Stones Chardonnay is one of our bestselling wines. Offering the generosity of the New World with the elegance of the Old, it puts many an overpriced Burgundy to shame and is stunningly complex for the price.
Graham Tatomer is a rising star winemaker in Santa Barbara County, specialising in the unexpected: Riesling! These are wines for serious Riesling lovers, and this is certainly a winemaker to watch.
A versatile take on France’s Chateauneuf-du-Pape the Pape Star Rouge remains a fan favourite for its medium-bodied weight, elegant texture and versatility when it comes to pairing wine and food.
Marietta’s Armé is their Bordeaux blend, comprised primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. It offers the power and structure of classed growth Pauillac, with the ripe fruit intensity of top quality Napa Cab.
A 75cl bottle of Sparkling Albarino Extra Brut 2021 by Carboniste. A white wine from Sonoma in the California region of U.S.A.. Made from Alvarinho/Albariño.
Trousseau Gris is something of a viticultural rarity these days. We think that it is a variety that needs to be rediscovered, and what better way to do that than by trying a bottle?
"Opening with scents of petrol and cut grass, the 2017 Riesling is something of an oddity for Napa, where Riesling has largely been replaced by other varieties. Notes of paraffin, green apple and lime also appear on the nose, while the almost-dry, medium-bodied palate is cool, refreshing and stony, with a long, tangy finish and hints of beeswax and honey. It's already drinkable, but like many Rieslings, it should have a decently long drinking window." Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, 92 pts
Red Mountain is Hedges' flagship wine, a Cabernet and Merlot-dominated blend that represents the best of the Red Mountain AVA - the vineyard area that they have made famous as one of the very best in Washington State. Superb, and far better than many a Bordeaux costing double.
A killer Rhone-style Syrah from California power couple Scott and Jenny Schultz. The perfect marriage of intensity and finesse, this wine is an unadulterated expression of the grape, showcasing its dark, savoury, and spicy side while maintaining smooth tannins and a lifted finish.
Made from vineyard fruit of the Domaine de la Côte's estate, this Pinot delivers on every level, and takes you way beyond what one would reasonably expect from an appellation wine. With notes of black cherry, lavender and layered spice, on the palate savoury earthiness develops, while a subtle green stalk coarseness cuts pleasantly through the fruit, adding beautiful texture and completing a complex and elegant wine.
A 75cl bottle of Santa Ynez Valley Stolpman Viognier 2021 by Kunin Wines. A white wine from Santa Ynez Valley in the California region of U.S.A.. Made from Viognier.
A 75cl bottle of Anderson Valley Baker Ranch Syrah 2018 by Dupuis. A red wine from Anderson Valley in the California region of U.S.A.. Made from Syrah.
Produced by Long Meadow Ranch in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this unique terroir benefits from the cooling influences of the Pacific Ocean, allowing a long ripening period for the grapes. Each year, this Chardonnay receives critical acclaim and always sells out fast.
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is fabulous. A rush of floral and spice notes leads into a core of racy purplish fruit. Lavender, sage, mint and a whole range of savory Cabernet aromatics play off the natural richness of the year so well. The 2017 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Eden plus non-estate vineyards in Los Gatos and Saratoga, along with Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Mount Eden. That blend works so well. I loved it for its power and density. More importantly, the 2017 is a huge overachiever and a screaming value." Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, 94 pts
"From an own-rooted vineyard planted in 1972, at 1400 ft, 3 miles from the Pacific (it’s Bohan Vineyard), this is fermented in French oak (20% new) and has minimum effective SO2 added. It’s sensational. Taut, fine and lemony with keen acidity, but no feeling of compression. There’s generous crystalline citrus fruit with a fine, spicy structure and a touch of salinity on the finish. Very pure and focused, but offering real complexity at low alcohol. There’s just a faint hint of mineral reduction and everything is in perfect harmony. This would be so hard to place tasted blind. I really love it." Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 96 pts
A 75cl bottle of Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2020 by Domaine de la Côte. A red wine from Santa Barbara in the California region of U.S.A.. Made from Pinot Noir.
"The 2020 Chardonnay marries textural richness and energy, all in grand style. Lemon confit, white flowers and light tropical accents lend quite a bit of character. There is striking creaminess and oiliness to the feel, even though the malolactic fermentation was fully blocked. The 2020 is just gorgeous in the way it conveys mountain energy while avoiding any sense of austerity." Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, 95 pts
Beautifully elegant Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, made from estate fruit sourced from Long Meadow Ranch's mountain and Rutherford vineyards. It was recently awarded 96 Points by Decanter Magazine.
Colète is a Napa Valley Merlot design by Rajat Parr and Marie Vayron Ponsonnet. Inspired by the Merlot's of Pomerol, Raj and Marie scoured the Napa landscape for a vineyard site which would deliver an expression of the grape, distinctly Napa but influenced by the soft, rounded and well structured wines of Pomerol.
This excellent Chardonnay is considered one of California’s longest-lived white wines ... but you may find it hard to resist cracking it open at the first opportunity.
McDougall Ranch is a unique, cool climate site; the vineyard beautifully expresses varietal correctness. "Great style and shape - this wine has the clarity of modern fruit with the savoury terroir of Burgundy", Jancis Robinson.
"The 2020 Pinot Noir Estate is concentrated and structured and will benefit from more bottle time. Medium ruby, it has intense aromas of dried cranberry, burnt orange peel, cinnamon stick, aniseed, tar and chaparral. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and fresh with crunchy red fruits and loads of botanical and earthy accents, and it finishes with a touch of sweet spice across the finish." Erin Brooks, robertparker.com, 96 pts
This Pinot Noir a very pretty, open-knit wine. Due to the soils in the vineyard, the Estate Pinot Noirs’ elegant, transparent style is more Burgundian than Californian. This wine is a pure delight!
A 75cl bottle of Anderson Valley Estate Pinot Noir 2020 by Dupuis. A red wine from Anderson Valley in the California region of U.S.A.. Made from Pinot Noir.
This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Fellom Ranch vineyard is the most reticent of the Arnot-Roberts Cabernets. Intensely savoury and earthy, the natural concentration of small berries with little juice and high solids gives the wine its dense, brooding feel.
"Alluring aromas of dark cassis, graphite, cedar and wild herbs. It has a striking depth with layered flavours and texture, and while restrained now it is incredibly well-built and in need of time in the cellar to fully shine. Reveals subtle hints of fresh black and blue berries, currants and dried herbs tinged with red florals. Finishes with polish, energy and poise." Jonathan Cristaldi, decanter.com, 94 pts
Smith-Madrone's Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Napa's most exceptional, yet best value wines. Offering the balance and elegance of classed-growth Bordeaux at a fraction of the price, it's amongst the best from a more traditional era of Californian winemaking
Cathy Corison continues to impress with this Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Working with a meticulous handwork, Corison’s winery aims to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. This balanced wine deserves to thrive in the cellar for at least a decade. This wine shows elegance and complexity...very highly recommended.
