Provence

The ideal picture of a golden summer afternoon in Provence isn’t complete without a bottle of wine. More than likely, the wine will be rosé. In common with much of the rest of France, the last few years have seen the quality of Provence wine soar as outside interest and investment have brought with them modern methods and fashions. The best Provence rosé is now made in the gentlest possible fashion to be extremely pale, delicate, dry and light - the perfect accompaniment to the weather and cuisine. But it’s not only rosé which is worth drinking in Provence. The reds now appearing from ambitious winemakers are startlingly good - and why shouldn’t they be? There is a lot of potential in both the climate and the soil.
