Lebanon has a small but growing wine industry. There are now around 40 (mostly small-scale) producers, and while some are long-established, the majority are new arrivals keen to take the opportunity to try different techniques and experiment with grape varieties in order to find out what works best in this hot, dry climate. The most famous wine producer in Lebanon is Château Musar - a legend in the wine world for producing a spicy, age worthy and unique red even during the civil war years. Other large producers like Château Kefraya and Château Ksara also turn out full-bodied, powerful reds and these are now beginning to be joined by a new and exciting generation of winemakers.
