Marsanne is best known as a blending partner for Rousanne, and sometimes Viognier, in the Rhône, but you will also find it grown in Italy, Australia, California and even Switzerland. Marsanne can produce lovely single variety wines that tend to be deeply coloured and flavoursome with moderate acidity and flavours of honeysuckle, almond and pear. Marsanne is one of the six varieties permitted in white Côtes du Rhône , and is frequently used in Northern Rhône white blends, like Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage.
