Brothers Alessandro and Gian Natale Fantino run this unapologetically old-fashioned estate, located on 8 hectares of prime vineyards in the heart of the high-quality Bussia sub-region of Barolo.
Located north of Monforte, Bussia's primarily south and south-east facing slopes produce some of Barolo's most full-flavoured and longest-lived wines. Yet the extra sunshine and heat enjoyed by the vines creates soft tannins and silky structure in the wines, lending them a wonderful approachability in youth.
Fantino's Barbera, from 60 year old vines, is exquisitely perfumed and luscious, with ripe-to-bursting dark cherry fruit, silky structure and a typically juicy finish. The Rosso dei Dardi is a predominantly-Nebbiolo blend, from younger vines planted in Barolo vineyards and offers a distinct flavour of Fantino's incredible Barolo production, in a fresher, easier-drinking package.
