Penfolds pulls not only an awesome catalogue of wines behind its famous name, but a large part of the credit for the growth of the highest quality wine in Australia. When Max Schubert illicitly carried on making the wine he was told to desist from, Shiraz matured for two years in American oak, he gave birth to a legendary wine, Penfolds Grange, still the most iconic wine in Australia, and one of the finest in the world. Penfolds make great wine, although there have been spots of inconsistency, the wines, at their best are wonderful. From the entry-level wines, the Bin Series to the great RWT, St-Henri, Bin 707 and the rare Bin60A Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a rare example of a wine company making great wine at every price and quality point.
