Brunia Wines

Brunia Wines are a family-run vineyard producing cool-climate South African wines in the Cape South Coast region of Sondagskloof.

The farm, Cold Mountain, is nestled on the slopes of Koue Berg Mountain ranges between the towns of Stanford and Napier. The vineyards are planted amongst vast stretches of fynbos, a diverse belt of shrubland running through the Cape region. This flora contributes to a high level of biodiversity on the farm. Brunia Leavis is one plant in particular that has flourished at Cold Mountain, inspiring the name of the wines.

Brunia's vineyards are classified as cool climate with moderate temperatures and more rainfall than regions such as Stellenbosch and Swartland. The vineyard sites also benefit from a maritime influence, further cooling the vines - these effects help to drive that lighter, fresh, lifted style, a hallmark of many Roberson wines.

Run by brothers Brett and Wade Sander Brunia are working toward organic certification. This means a more sustainable practice which results in a healthier vineyard and ultimately a purer expression of grape. This move has resulted in low yields but also an increase in grape quality which results in a range of wines that are terroir expressive and rich in fruit character.
