Château Rauzan-Ségla was always the next best thing to Château Margaux in Margaux, but it fell away somewhat for much of the latter part of the 20th century. It also went through a phase of spelling Rauzan with an ‘s’, which has happily now ended, and the wine is back on song. Even in the bad days great wines were made in great vintages – the vineyards are of such quality that it’s not surprising they managed to shine. Since 1994 we can say once again – buy with confidence. And that goes for the second wine too – Ségla.
