Nestled high in the Vergisson hills, Maurice created the domaine in 1984 and today it stands at 35 parcels spread across 14 ha in Macon-Vergisson, St-Veran and Pouilly-Fuissé. They have developed a justified reputation for producing steely, mineral laced Chardonnay wines from some of the best vineyard sites in the region.
In the vineyard they follow the practice of lutte raisonnée and the approach to vinification is largely traditional. The Macon and St-Veran are fermented and aged in tank, whereas the Pouilly-Fuissé (from the superb single vineyard ‘Les Crays’) ferments and ages in barrels for 12 months (15% new oak). This family domaine is blessed with old vines and a conscientious vigneron that produces some of the best value wines in the Côte Chalonnais.
