There is a tale told that when the 1855 classification was being drawn up, Lanessan would have been considered a 'shoe-in' for fourth or fifth growth classification but someone at the estate forgot to send in the application papers. I bet they got into trouble! Regardless, quality at this idiosyncratic estate remains outstanding, with little oak utilised to give the wines freshness and mineral complexity. The wines age very well.
