Domaine Ponsot own vineyards primarily in Morey-St-Denis, notably a large slice of Clos de la Roche, but also have holdings in Latricières-Chambertin and Chambertin. At a tasting last year, the Ponsot wines outshone some other very famous names. But a few weeks later a much-hyped bottle from Ponsot proved disappointing – but that is the hazard of Burgundy. Suffice to say, when a Ponsot wine is good, it’s very good, and normally a bargain.
