In a very short time, Chateau d'Esclans has become one of the benchmark estates of Provence, producing some of the most compelling, but light, pale and delicate rosé wines of the region.
While an old estate, with cellars dating back to the 12th century, it was the arrival in 2006 of Sacha Lichine, scion of the great wine-making family of Bordeaux, that saw d'Esclans elevated to its present level of fame and prestige.
The estate is most famous for Whispering Angel - at one point responsible for 20% of all Provence rosé imports into the USA - described by Serena Sutcliffe as "loaded onto yachts on the Côte d’Azur and consumed in quantity by connoisseurs."
